April 22, 2025, Kolkata – Two new members Rtn. Sudeeksha Sengupta and Rtn. Triparno Ghosal were inducted to the Rotary Club of Calcutta South Central on the occasion of annual District Governor Visit. The members were pinned by DG AKS Dr. Krishnendu Gupta and Rtn. Bhaswati Roy in presence of District Executive Secretary Rtn. Amitava Chakraborty and District Treasurer Rtn. K. K. Jha. The members were introduced by club president Rtn. Utsav Bhanja.

The RCC District Conference 2025 held on 19th & 20th April 2025 was attended by three people from the Rotary Community Corps of Mahishamuri sponsored by the Rotary Club of Calcutta South Central, namely, Shiddhartha Halder, Sanjit Halder and Bidhan Halder.

Inauguration of Vocational Training Centre to promote Self Reliance for Women & Girls

Mar. 2, 2025 – As part of its ongoing commitment to community service, the RC Calcutta South Central proudly inaugurated a charitable Vocational Training Centre with 4 sewing machines near Shibrampur South 24 Pgs., for underprivileged girls and women. This initiative, launched during the club’s 30th year, aims to empower beneficiaries with skill-based training and promote self-reliance.

Club President Rtn. Utsav Bhanja led the inauguration, highlighting the importance of sustainable social impact. The project is generously supported by Incfrog as the Initiative Sponsor, whose contribution has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life.

‘Jal Sanjeevani’ – Water Filters Installation at Jyotshibrampur Girls High School

Jan. 16, 2025, Kolkata – Two Livpure electric water filters were donated to Jyotshibrampur Girls High School, located in a high arsenic-prone zone. This initiative directly benefits over 600 girl students by ensuring access to safe drinking water. These filters were received from RC Calcutta as a part of their Atmanirbhar project.

Wheelchair & Blanket Distribution at Naba Jubak Sangha (Fata Keshto Kali Pujo)

Jan. 5, 2025, Kolkata – RC Calcutta South Central distributed warm blankets to 70 individuals, a wheelchair to a needy family, and a cash donation of ₹10,000 towards the purchase of additional winter clothing at Phata Keshto Naba Jubak Sangha. Rtn. Manjusri Nandi, Rtn. Dr. Ases Ratan Nandi, Rtn. Dr. Ashok Dutta, Rtn. Koushik Banerjee, Rtn. Illanjana Bhadra were present at the project along with club president Rtn. Utsav Bhanja. Club guest Ellora Bhadra also took part in the event.

Donation of Wheelchair & Medical Equipments at Shanti Niwas

Sep. 18, 2024, Kolkata – Rotary Club of Calcutta South Central undertook a meaningful service project through the donation of essential medical equipment to Shanti Niwas, an old age home for women located on DH Road near Behala Chowrasta. The club extended its support by donating a wheelchair, nebuliser, emergency medical equipment, portable phlegm suction unit and a supply of insulin, aiming to enhance the healthcare and mobility facilities for the elderly residents. Club President Rtn. Utsav Bhanja and Club Treasurer Rtn. Koushik Banerjee were present during the visit, personally handing over the items and interacting with the residents. Total no. of beneficiaries are 40.

Cancer Awareness Program with Medica Hospitals

March 10, 2024 – Rotary Club of Calcutta South Central organised a Cancer Awareness Program with Medica Hospitals at Subarno Banik Samaj. Doctors from Department of Oncology, Medica Hospitals delivered talks on early identification, treatment of cancer. Club member Rtn. Dr. Asoke Dutta was one of the panelists. Rtn. Arindam Chatterjee was the project chair. Rtn. Tamasha Dutta Das was also present at the event.

Essentials Donation for Children of Sobuj Path Vidyalay, Bolpur

March 3, 2024 – Rotary Club of Calcutta South Central interacted with 48 children and donated 3 Carpets (6×7 ft each), 1 Ceiling Fan, powder milk supplies and food supplies for the underprivileged children at Sabuj Path Vidyalay, Bolpur. Members present were Rtn. Tamasa Dutta Das , Rtn. Ashmita Paul and club president Rtn. Utsav Bhanja along with guests Smt. Alpona & Shri Triparno Ghosal.

Discussions for creating future scope of improvement were made between club president and the school teachers.

Solar Lights & Saree Distribution in Bolpur Ramnagar

March 2, 2024 – Rotary Club of Calcutta South Central donated four solar lights, 12 sarees and distributed food to underprivileged women in Bolpur village of Ramnagar. The women attend evening classes at a local study centre and are often faced with challenges due to electricity shortage. Club members were moved by the kind of strength these mothers have shown in educating themselves. Number of beneficiaries were 37 women.

Members present were Rtn Tamasa Das Dutta , Rtn Ashmita Paul & club president Rtn. Utsav Bhanja along with two guests Smt. Alpona & Mr. Triparno Ghosal who accompanied the members in distributing food and discussing about their progress in basic education.

Blankets Distribution at RCC Mahishamuri

January 20, 2024 – Fifty blankets were distributed at RCC Mahishamuri (South 24 Parganas), West Bengal, by members of Rotary Club of Calcutta South Central. As an adopted village, previous donations by the club had reached most of the households of the village. So this time, underprivileged people from eight surrounding villages were invited to the donation drive and were handed over blankets to keep them warm during the chilly winter season.

Rtn. Arindam Chatterjee, Rtn. Koushik Banerjee and Club President Rtn. Utsav Bhanja were present at the distribution event, along with Siddhartha Haldar of Rotary Community Corps, Mahishamuri.
